Marketing In Color Helps to Increase Local Awareness of DACCO Drug Treatment Efforts In Tampa Bay, Florida
Since 1973, the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO) has served Tampa Bay by providing drug prevention and treatment programs to its citizens. Its record of service has earned the facility national merit, as well as local renown. DACCO is the only rehabilitation facility that provides family housing for women and residential treatment in Hillsborough County. Recently, DACCO began a new marketing campaign with the hope of raising both awareness and money to support its not-for-profit cause.
The main focus of this marketing effort is an 11-minute informational video. The video features information about the facility as well as testimonials from doctors, clients, and client families. In making the video, DACCO hoped to transform its image from that of an exclusively residential treatment facility to that of a facility that offers not only residential treatment, but outpatient treatment as well. Marketing In Color wrote the script and produced the video.
The video showcases the different services that DACCO provides, which include drug treatment, rehabilitation, outpatient treatment, day treatment, and more. DACCO specializes in the outpatient treatment of people who also have mental disabilities. They also provide employment assistance to people who are leaving the program and attempting to enter the workforce.
Marketing In Color’s interviews in the video displayed the philosophy of the mental health care professionals who work at DACCO. Dr. Jason Shields, MD, a University of Florida Addiction Fellow, said “What DACCO is doing to de-stygmitize the treatment of opiate dependence, to de-stygmitize medication-assisted treatment, is education.” Many people misconstrue drug use as a continued choice, says the doctor. “It's not a choice to just simply stop using drugs.”
Annually, DACCO helps 25,000 people and their families deal with drug abuse.
